How to Search Criminal Dockets
Match the offense level to the right court before anything else. Felony cases sit with Asotin County Superior Court. Washington Courts Name and Case Search is its free public pointer. Odyssey holds the fuller court record. Misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, and criminal traffic may land in Asotin County District Court or in the Asotin or Clarkston municipal docket. Asotin District Court administers that municipal docket. Those limited-jurisdiction records now run through re:SearchWA.
Search with a full name or an exact case number. When filters appear, narrow by court, case type, status, filing dates, or judicial officer. If nothing comes back online, try the posted docket PDF. You can also call the right clerk or stop at the courthouse counter. Treat the state index as a finding aid. It is not the official Asotin County criminal court record.
- Identify Superior, District, Asotin Municipal, or Clarkston Municipal Court from the notice or case number.
- Use Washington Courts Case Records Search for a pointer, then open Odyssey or re:SearchWA.
- Match the Asotin court, number, filing date, and party before opening the result.
- Read the newest hearing and Register of Actions entries instead of an old PDF.
- Ask the correct clerk for a judgment, sentence, or certified copy.
Asotin County Criminal Docket Split
The biggest search mistake is assuming Asotin County runs one criminal database. It does not. The office that keeps a felony record is not the office that keeps a District or municipal misdemeanor file. The Asotin County Clerk maintains Asotin Superior Court felony documents. The Asotin District Court Clerk's Office keeps District Court records plus the contracted Asotin and Clarkston municipal dockets.
The official Asotin County criminal cases page lays out Asotin District Court jurisdiction and gives court-date and prosecutor routes, and it points the way to the limited-jurisdiction records.

A felony search should run from the state index to Odyssey and the County Clerk. A misdemeanor search should head to re:SearchWA, the Asotin District Court calendar, or the District Court counter and phone.
| Court | Criminal matters | Docket keeper |

| Asotin County Superior Court | Felony cases | Asotin County Clerk |
| Asotin County District Court | Misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, criminal traffic | Asotin District Court Clerk |
| Asotin and Clarkston Municipal Courts | City misdemeanor, ordinance, and traffic matters | Administered through Asotin District Court |
What a Criminal Docket Shows
The official Asotin County criminal docket PDF is a hearing calendar at heart. Its header names the day, date, docket time, courtroom, and judge. Every setting lists a case number. A State of Washington caption appears too, plus participant and counsel lines and a hearing label. A few entries carry a different time or a prison-call or teleconference note.
Odyssey takes you past the daily PDF. Its case view holds case information, parties, events, disposition events, hearings, and the Register of Actions. That chronological register is where you check what was filed. It also shows what happened after a setting appeared.
| Case Number | Current Superior examples use a year, type, serial, and county code ending in -02. |
|---|---|
| Caption | The prosecuting party appears as State of Washington, followed by defendant and counsel lines. |
| Setting | Labels include arraignment, omnibus or trial setting, pretrial management, plea, sentencing, and review. |
| Time | The entry may use the main docket time or state a separate time and remote-hearing note. |
| Disposition | The PDF rarely shows a final result. Check disposition events, the register, or clerk file. |
Asotin Criminal Docket Setting Terms
Hearing labels explain why a case stands before the Asotin court. They do not state guilt or prove the event took place. Asotin County criminal docket PDFs use clear labels, but several still need context.
- Initial arraignment
- The first formal appearance in the plea process, not a conviction.
- Omnibus / trial setting
- A pretrial event used to address readiness and set later dates.
- Pretrial management
- A hearing focused on issues, deadlines, and the path toward plea or trial.
- Show cause
- A hearing requiring a person to explain why the Asotin court should not take a stated action.
- Treatment review
- A follow-up setting about compliance or progress, not the final disposition.
More local labels show up too: competency review, motion to quash warrant, sentencing hearing setting, anger-management review, and a protected person's motion tied to a no-contact order. Read each one against the latest event history.
Stages on a Criminal Docket
A Superior criminal case starts when charging material is filed and gets a cause number. Arraignment follows. From there, the Asotin County criminal docket may show an omnibus or trial-setting hearing, pretrial management, motions, and a change-of-plea or trial setting. Once resolved, the case can move to judgment and sentencing, then to treatment or compliance review when ordered.
Docket flow: Filing › Arraignment › Pretrial › Plea or Trial › Disposition › Sentencing
The path rarely runs straight. A new trial date, continuance, competency review, or warrant motion can all add events. A calendar setting proves only that the matter was scheduled. Check whether it actually occurred. The newest Register of Actions or the official clerk file will say.
Note: A reset changes the scheduled event. It does not dismiss the Asotin County criminal case or erase prior entries.
Asotin Criminal PDF Limits
The free daily PDF works well for seeing who is set, when the docket begins, and which hearing is listed. It does not attach the charging paper, motions, orders, judgment, sentence, financial record, or bond detail. Such items may appear as Odyssey event labels. The images can still stay closed to public users.
To get a filed document, use the Asotin Superior Court request form. Supply the exact number, document name, filing date, or hearing date. Non-certified, certified, authenticated or exemplified copies are offered, plus hearing audio. Mail the paper request or return it to the second-floor County Clerk office. The Asotin clerk quotes the cost under the published schedule.
Need a District or municipal file instead? Contact the Asotin District Court Clerk. An Odyssey subscription for Superior records does not reach the limited-jurisdiction docket.
Which Court Holds Criminal Dockets
Felony charges in Asotin County belong to Superior Court. The County Clerk keeps the Superior file itself. That file covers minutes, judgments, exhibits, writs, and warrants, plus every event entered on the criminal docket. Odyssey offers remote viewing, and the courthouse counter is where certified copies come from.
Misdemeanors and criminal traffic go elsewhere. Asotin County District Court takes DUI. It also takes driving while license suspended and other gross misdemeanor and misdemeanor cases. Clarkston Municipal Court and Asotin Municipal Court handle city ordinance and traffic matters. Yet both run on the shared Asotin District Court system. Current AOC guidance lists all three limited-jurisdiction courts under re:SearchWA.

Asotin Criminal Docket Numbers
Washington Courts counted 143 Superior criminal filings in Asotin County for calendar year 2025, along with 2,000 criminal proceedings. Those numbers measure court workload. They say nothing about how many cases are open today, and they leave the District and municipal dockets out entirely.
The same official table showed 162 cases resolved and 19 pending longer than nine months. Treat these as system measures. No single Asotin County criminal docket moves at that pace or ends with that result.
Public Access and Sealed Criminal Dockets
Washington General Rule 31 sets the rules for public access to court case records. A docket search can display the caption and case number. It can also show calendar entries, event labels, and some result data. Not everything follows. Reports, exhibits, identifiers, and protected filings stay closed. Sealed content cannot be viewed or copied even when an existence marker survives on the index.
Extra limits apply to juvenile, dependency, medical, mental-health, treatment, and protected-family material, plus unserved warrants. Asotin District rules add confidential treatment for listed evaluations and judges' notes. Driving abstracts and unserved-warrant affidavits get the same treatment. A party or attorney of record can sometimes see what an anonymous user cannot.
Washington access rules:
General Rule 31 sets the statewide framework for court case records.
RCW 13.50.050 restricts juvenile offender records and identifying data.
Asotin District local rules identify confidential limited-jurisdiction items.
When Asotin Criminal Searches Differ
Washington Courts itself warns that statewide results are reference material. They refresh on a 24-hour cycle. Docket entries, status lines, or document links can be missing or wrong. A brand-new filing may not show up yet. An archived or closed case may take a phone call to the court. Restricted matters return only limited detail.
A blank screen is not a result. Write down the Asotin court and the case number first. Then check the Asotin court-specific system and the newest docket entries. Superior cases belong with the County Clerk. District and municipal cases go to the Asotin District Court Clerk. The full Asotin County case search walks through the filters on both paths.
Note: When a public index and file disagree, the originating clerk's official Asotin County criminal court record controls.
